Most of everyone knows, but Jon and I have known each other for years. His sister, Jaci, and I have been best friends since Jr. High. Finally, we found just what we were both looking for, in each other. It all started with our first date at a Terhune Custom Homes Christmas party. Nearly two years later, Jon planned a much needed getaway to Whistler, after a long summer of yard work. On Sunday, September 21st, 2008 Jon proposed! It started with a romantic Mediterranean restaurant dinner and was followed with a relaxing stroll through Whistler Village. Before I knew what was happening, I turned around and he had knelt on his knee and said, “Jenny Powell, will you marry me?” I was so surprised! Tears rolled down my face as got up to hug me and asked, “does that mean yes?” I realized I had not answered him! I said numerous times, “Yes! Yes! Yes!” as he put the ring on my finger. It was the most romantic moment a girl could ever ask for. As I was in a complete daze, we walked back through the village to our condo to announce to the world “we are getting married!” We woke up the next morning and realized I slept with the ring on and I that I had not really even looked at it in all the excitement of the evening before! That day we spent, as the newly engaged couple, flying through the skies of Whistler and Blackcomb mountains on the zipline tour. I found out that Jon had gone and asked for my parent’s permission before we left on the trip, how traditional and romantic! My dad of course gave him a little bit of a hard time, but it would not be my dad if he hadn’t. Some of our friends had found out too and had been calling and texting Jon before he popped the question, making him very nervous that it would spoil the surprise. But, dare I say it, everything was perfect! We are very excited to get married and start a family together. We thank all of our friends and family for all the support and love and look forward to celebrating with you all at the reception.

The reception will be a casual affair at the Powell's residence in Kingston on Saturday, June 20th, 2009.
Since the honeymoon is taking place before the reception, we have set up this registry online for everyone to send gifts for us to enjoy on the honeymoon. Please use this to gift us things like ATV tour on Kauai, snorkeling, romantic dinners, breakfast in bed, and couples massages. We have combined our two households and would much rather have gifts, such as these, to make our honeymoon everything we have ever wanted!
For those who like the more traditional approach, we have also registered at Macy's for some beautiful additions to our home.
We are very excited to celebrate our Maui wedding with all our friends and family at our reception on June 20th, 2009!
